Ingredients

2: cups Original Bisquick® mix

3/4: cup sugar

1/2: cup milk

1: large egg

1/2: cup sour cream

2: oz cream cheese, softened

2: tablespoons orange marmalade

1/4: cup sliced almonds

Directions

1 Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a 9-inch round baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
2 In a medium bowl, combine Bisquick mix and sugar. Add milk and egg, stirring until smooth. Stir in sour cream. Spoon mixture into prepared pan.
3 In a small bowl, combine cream cheese and orange marmalade. Spoon mixture by tablespoons evenly over batter; sprinkle evenly with almonds. Bake for 32 to 37 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes before cutting into wedges to serve.

I didn't have almonds or orange marmalade, so I used chocolate chips and pecans instead. I added some cocoa powder to the batter, about 2 tablespoons. Instead of marmalade I used 4 ounces of cream cheese and blackberry jam. It turned out very yummy and moist. I put about 3/4 cup of each chips and pecans in the batter. I had to bake it longer than it called for, about 40 mins.

I was looking for a recipe for a gluten-free coffee cake. I substituted Bisquick Gluten-free for the Bisquick and added 3/4 tsp. of almond extract to the batter. Very yummy!!

I have made this twice now. Went over well with our monthly brunch crowd. The second time, I added a tsp of Watkins Pure Orange Extract to the cake batter. Superb!
