Everyone LOVED this cake - couldn't get enough of it!

I made this cake with great expectations. I had to caramelize the milk (easy in the microwave), but the caramel sunk to the bottom of the cake and stuck to the pan. Not pretty but delicious!

I made this weekend for my kids and they both loved it. Couldn't find carmelized sweetened condensed milk so I made my own. Would make again.

I was personally a little disappointed in this cake, but everyone said they really liked it where I took it. It was pretty easy to make. I found the dulce le leche in the Hispanic section of the grocery store. It was a little pricey, but beat unwrapping caramels! I will make it again.

I looked forward to making this cake and was not all that happy with my results. It seemed like all the sweet milk went to the bottom and made the cake stick to my pan when I cut it and tried to take it out. It made a pretty cake but I thought it would have more of a caramel flavor thoughout the cake.

This was the BEST cake ever! I've just started branching out of my comfort zone a little when it comes to cooking, thus trying this recipe (not the typical yellow cake/chocolate frosting thing). Anyway, I followed the recipe exact, down to the suggested whipped cream and extra caramel when serving. My family went nuts over this cake, which of course made me feel awesome. I've been looking for my stand out recipe and I think I've found it in this Ooey Gooey Caramel Cake! Perfect!!! Thank you to who ever came up with this.

This cake is wonderful! I definitely suggest warming the dulce de leche that is spread over the top via a double broiler system. Otherwise it would be to thick to spread without tearing the top of the cake. I put applesauce in mine instead of the oil and it turned out fantastic. A definite do-over!

My family absolutely LOVED this cake. I'm not kidding when I say a couple of them were actually licking their plates with their fingers after they finished their first piece (and we usually exhibit good manners at our house!!!) Then they wanted "seconds"! A very big hit and I'll be making it tonight for a family get-together as a request of my husband. I did find the dulce de Leche in the mexican area of the large grocery store I go to, not in the baking area. Couldn't find chocolate toffee bits, just plain toffee bits but it was still delicious.
