Not impressed! The oatmeal never got crunchy (on top or bottom) and was rather crumbly even after following recipe exactly. I didn't think these two went together well at all. Would not make again.

This is an excellent recipe; usually get great reviews when Ive made them in the past. I haven't made them for while, but the baking time that is listed is so totally wrong. I baked them for 35 mins as the recipe calls for not to over bake. They cooled for 2 hours like the recipe states. When I cut them, the center was gooey. Some of the outside were the way they were supposed to be, cake like brownies. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thank you in advance!

Do you think I could make them with regular brownie mix or do I have to make that part from scratch???

I just baked these delicious brownies. I modified the recipe for a 9x9 pan using 3/4 of each ingredient amount. Baked it for 20 minutes and it was done! I waited for 20 minutes and then dug in. :D Also, I used 100% Whole Wheat flour instead of all-purpose, and used 1/2 c. less sugar than needed. Again, it turned out well!

Um, I only had 3 eggs so I went ahead and tried to bake it for 30 minutes. Nope, it took over an hour for the brownie base to get fully done (i.e. toothpick came out clean). Who knew! This was really great, very chocolatey, I added miniature chocolate chips to the oatmeal topping.

I didn''t have the baker''s chocolate, but did the cocoa/shortening substitute for the chocolate found in my "emergency substitutions" list. They turned out okay. I''ll make them again, but will try the actual chocolate that the recipe calls for. My hubby really liked them as he like baked goods with oatmeal in them.
