Nutty White Chip Cake

Cake

cup hot water

cup cut-up dates

teaspoon baking soda

cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour

cup granulated sugar

cup packed brown sugar

teaspoon baking soda

teaspoon salt

cup white vanilla baking chips

cup vegetable oil
1/2
teaspoon vanilla

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. In small bowl, mix all topping ingredients until well blended; set aside.
  • 2 In medium bowl, pour hot water over dates; stir in 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. Let stand 5 minutes.
  • 3 Stir all remaining cake ingredients into date mixture until well blended. Pour into ungreased 8-inch square pan. Sprinkle with topping.
  • 4 Bake about 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
