Dinner ready in 10 minutes! Check out these classic grilled chicken and cheese sandwiches – a scrumptious meal.
slices sourdough or other rustic whole-grain bread
tablespoons apple butter
slices (3/4 to 1 oz each) sharp Cheddar cheese
oz thin slices cooked chicken breast
tablespoons butter, softened
On 1 side of 2 bread slices, evenly spread apple butter. Top each with 1 slice of cheese, half of the chicken, a second slice of cheese and remaining bread slices.
In 10-inch nonstick skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter over medium-low heat. Place sandwiches in skillet. Spread tops of bread with remaining 1 tablespoon butter. Cook 5 minutes, turning once, until cheese is melted and bread is golden brown.
Easily change up this classic sandwich by using different kinds of cheese, such as Monterey Jack or Muenster.
If you need to serve a crowd, this recipe can be doubled or tripled. Prepare all of the sandwiches first and then cook them all at once on a griddle.
