3 1/2
cups all-purpose flour
6
Tbsp sugar
5
tsp baking powder
1
tsp Kosher salt
2/3
cup firm butter
2
large eggs, beaten
1
tsp vanilla extract
12
Tbsp heavy whipping cream (more if needed)
1
cup mini semi-sweet chocolate morsels
additional heavy cream for brushing
white coarse sugar crystals for dusting
  1. Heat oven to 400 degrees
  2. In large bowl, mix flour, 6 Tbsp sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter using pastry blender or smash in with fork, until mixture looks like fine crumbs. Stir in eggs, vanilla, morsels, and enough cream to bring dough together and pull away from bowl, but you don't want it to be wet.
  3. Place dough on lightly floured board, gently roll in flour to coat (makes kneading easier). Gently knead 10-15 times. Divide in fourths, placing 2 fourths on one cookie sheet and 2 fourths on another sheet. Pat out into 1 1/2 inch thick rounds. Cut each round into 8 wedges, with a sharp knife that has been dipped in flour (re-dipping as necessary). DO NOT separate wedges.
  4. Brush with additional whipping cream, then sprinkle with large crystal sugar.
  5. Bake 14 to 18 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets and carefully separate wedges. Serve warm.
