I made these for a Mexican themed tailgate party. Thought I would have prob. finding the Mexican Hot Choc mix but found it at super store in Mexican food isle; also used margarine instead butter (since earlier comment indicated this would help make them softer). I did use the bottom of a glass to gently push down cookie (helped them cook flatter). The 2nd batch I did not roll in cin/sugar mixture I just sprinkled this on to cut down on the sweetness. Cook only 10 minutes and maybe even 9 by the time you put last try in oven. Very good cookie for a change of the usual.

Made these cookies for Cinco De Mayo. My family loved them. So much that they have been bugging me everyday for them, and I am granting their wish and making them again today. They are delicious!!

I forgot to add - unlike previous comments, mine did flatten out and looked just like the picture. I also used a small ice cream scoop (it might be a little bigger than 1 tablespoon) and the recipe gave me exactly 31 cookies.

OMG just made these and this recipe is absolutely genius! Chocolatey, gooey with crisp edges. There's a hint of spice to make the taste interesting but it's definitely not overpowering (kids will still love them). The only thing is they are VERY sweet. I don't know if I rolled them too much in the cinnamon sugar mixture but I'm guessing it's because of the sugar cookie mix plus sweet chocolate mix. Make sure to have a tall glass of milk at hand! No idea if they will get hard as other reviewers have stated, but I can't imagine these would last long anyway. About half an hour out of the oven they are nice and gooey. I plan on bringing them to a party in 3 hrs, dessert maybe 4 hrs, hoping they stay soft (and last until dessert time!).

Very good flavor. My only complaint is they get pretty hard within a day or two of making.

I made this for Christmas cookies were good but a little to sweet. I think next time I'll with hold the 1/4 cup of sugar. cookies mix has enough sugar already.

These were great! They have a different chocolate flavor than most chocolate cookies I've made. Mine did not flatten out like the picture either, but they were soft in the middle and a bit crisp on the edges, just the way I like them! The only thing I did different was to use only about 1/2 cup of the mini chocolate chips. These cookies are very easy and very good. I will be making them again!

I forgot to say that they were also very soft and I used real butter and baked them for exactly 10 minutes each time.

I made these for a work party and they went over very well. Mine didn't look like the pic as they didn't flatten out as much and were not as dark. I used the powder packet of mexican hot chocolate. Other than that I followed the recipe. I will be making them again soon and may add a touch of cayenne!
