I made this for a friends' birthday. Because the store didn't have anything but strawberry margarita mix left I used mojito mix and it was great. Everyone loved it.

I had used the large sourdough pretzels but that make the bottom to hard almost like chewing nuts (will use smaller pretzels next time). I didn't think it had much of a "lime" taste even with the margarita mix and lime zest but I like the cake.

Wow. I'm not normally a cake lover, but I do LOVE this one! So does everyone else. My husband requested this for his birthday cake this year! Everyone really loves the pretzel crust on the bottom. It's a delicious surprise! I have shared this recipe many many times! I made a couple little changes... I added 2 drops of green food coloring to the cake mix. Just gives it a light fresh color. Also, I do not add the lime zest until after the cake is all mixed, and then just stir it in with a spoon. I found it all stuck to the beaters if I did it before. I also use a bit of the dry cake mix to "flour" the pan. Doesn't add any unwanted flavor to the cake. I use fat free or reduced fat Cool Whip. Tastes the same but a little healthier. Nice light cake!

AWESOME cake!! Refreshing (especially when chilled) and light. Just the right mix of flavors with the pretzels, margarita mix, lime and whipped topping. I have made it three times now for all different occasions and not once did I have leftovers. I am excited to try the cupcakes! :)

This was a TOTAL HIT at my cousin's graduation. I turned it into 18 cupcakes and an 8x8 cake. Everyone at the party came up to me to tell me how good they were and it really made my day. I was a little unsure about the pretzel crust so I did a test run with just a few cupcakes and as soon as they came out and cooled just enough for me to taste I put the rest in the oven cause they were soo good. I greased the bottom of the paper cups with crisco so the pretzel wouldn't stick and frosted them with Lime Cream Cheese Icing that i found on another website. SOOOOO GOOOOD!! I already want to make them again. :)

Tried making the cake for the first time. Had 9 guest for Dinner. We did not like the cake. Very dry and had very little taste. I wouldn't recommed this recipe. In rating, this was one of the worst cakes I have ever baked.

Instead of a 13 x 9 inch pan, I used a heavy Bundt pan. I sprayed the whole inside of the mold with Baker's Joy. I did not start with the layer of coarsely chopped pretzels, butter and sugar in the bottom of the mold. I filled the mold first with the cake batter and used the pretzel mix at the top, so it would be at the bottom of cake when unmolded. Since the Bundt mold was one of the heavier ones, I let it bake for about 5 more minutes. I let it cool and then turned over to the serving cake stand. The pretzel mix stayed in place. Instead of the whipped topping, I used my favorite homemade cream cheese icing to which I added some grated lime peel. I decorated the cake with real daisies (margaritas in Spanish) - BTW, daisy petals are edible. After tasting: The cake is very dense. If I make it again I will add a dollop of sour cream or two. Also, although I used the amount of zest as suggested in the recipe, we found it could have used a bit more in the batter. I would do away with the pretzel, butter, sugar mix.... Instead, I think I would sprinkle some sea salt - not much - on the top of the batter before baking and let that slight saltines be at the bottom of the cake. The cream cheese icing with zest worked very well.

took this recipe and changed it a bit...used 1/3 cup frozen limeade thawed with 1 cup water preparing the cake also added zest from 2 small limes and a splash of green food coloring to the white cake...after baked and cooled, removed it from the sheet pan and cut horizontally and filled with a key lime custard from a pie mix....placed the pretzel mixture in the bottom and replaced the cake...drenched the top of the cake with some of the limeade with a bit of tequila (1/4 cup)....then iced with canned white icing thinned with a little limeade and zest...was so good and moist served cold
