Toysruskid, if you're worried about cholesterol, don't use as many eggs. Choline is important for brain and heart health, so I would use one whole egg and two or three whites per serving. That would cut fat and calories. I would also make a homemade low fat alfredo, using either fat free half and half or evaporated skim milk instead of cream and cutting the butter to 1/2 teaspoon, which is just enough to give the flavor. It's also a whole lot cheaper to make your own alfredo than to buy it. That will cut fat, cholesterol and calories. Also, remember that dietary cholesterol does not raise your blood cholesterol much, it's saturated fat that does that for you. This recipe sounds delicious, and, making some healthier swaps, I will definitely make this. I'll also use 100% whole wheat bread instead of the white to increase the fiber and vitamin content.

See what Dr. Oz says about eggs. He believes they are a wonderful source of protein and good for you. Being a cardiac surgeon he should know. He said don't use egg whites, enjoy the whole egg! This sounds great for a on occasion breakfast or brunch. Have not made it yet but will!

Absolutely delicious and so easy to make. Tasty, tasty. I added ham cubes and let it sit overnight; salt and pepper to taste. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Love the idea of the mushrooms too. If you are eating egg dishes, you have cholesterol; cheese dishes add fat, ham adds salt. Enjoy everything in moderation, my friends, but do enjoy.

Eggs welll... are eggs. They have cholesterol. Not much you can do about it except for those nasty substitutes. Now, having said that - eggs are a whole lot of protein. and used wisely say only once or twice a week can be a nutritionally sound addition to any diet. So, I love this recipe. It's delicious. Of course, like any recipe, I suit it to my family's tastes. I add some seasonings; pepper - black and white, a bit of garlic, some onion and definitely mushrooms. When I don't have alfredo sauce, I use cream of mushroom soup with parmesan cheese mixed in with a bit of milk. This is a versatile recipe, an easy recipe and a hit with me and my family.

I added ham slices and cooked potato, but even with those additions it was still pretty bland. The best part of it had to be the bread pieces on top that had the melted cheese and soaked in the most Alfredo taste. I probably will not revisit this recipe.

Considering an egg has about 215 mg of cholesterol, I'm not surprised that each serving has 190 mg. For my husband, I'd like to try this using an egg substitute for most of the eggs if not all. This way it would only be 56-82 mg cholesterol per serving. I'll give it three spoons until I've tried my creation.
