Great tasting cookie. Reminds me of the ones my mom made in the Czech Republic. The only trouble I had was putting the holes in with a soda top. After ruining two cookies, I figured it didn't need a hole. I made the cookie dough on parchment paper and put it right on the cookie sheet which helped. Soooo yummie! My girls loved using different shapes too, like stars, angels and trees.

The easiest Linzer recipe I've found. Had some trouble getting the center shapes to hold when baked, but found that if center shapes are cut when cookies are first taken out of the oven then the designs come out very well. They were very crispy but softened when the jam was added. Do not keep leftover dough in fridge, the dough went bad very quickly. Bake them all at once or in the same day. Did not do the chocolate drizzle. Best eaten same day.

I made these cookies for a Birthday Club at work. What a hit, never told how easy they were. I dusted them with confectioners sugar as done traditionally. German friend said they were just like the ones her Mom made. Will surely make again and again.
