Ingredients

cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour*
1/2
cup butter or margarine, softened
1/4
cup powdered sugar
1
cup granulated sugar
2
teaspoons grated lemon peel, if desired
2
tablespoons lemon juice
1/2
teaspoon baking powder
1/4
teaspoon salt
2
large eggs
Additional powdered sugar

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F.
  • 2 In medium bowl, mix flour, butter and 1/4 cup powdered sugar with spoon. Press in ungreased 8-inch or 9-inch square pan, building up 1/2-inch edges. Bake crust 20 minutes; remove from oven.
  • 3 In medium bowl, beat remaining ingredients except additional powdered sugar with electric mixer on high speed about 3 minutes or until light and fluffy. Pour over hot crust.
  • 4 Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until no indentation remains when touched lightly in center. Cool completely in pan on wire rack, about 1 hour. Dust with powdered sugar. For bars, cut into 5 rows by 5 rows.

Great recipe! It was finished right away at dinner! For all the people with bad reviews, they probably didn't follow the recipe exactly. I used an 8x8 pan. Delicious!!!

These bars did not turn out the way the pictures looks. The crust was so hard around the corners I am still soaking the pan to try and get it out. The top is not flaky at all, and the crust is very crumbly. They taste fine if you can get them out of the pan, but the look is not very appealing if you are making them for a special occasion.

these look just like the pic they look delicious. i suggest using a square pan or else the crust gets funky. i bring these to parties all the time. this is the only thing my friends will let me bring. they love em!
