This is a great make ahead - refrigerate a day before baking or freeze for a couple of months tightly covered. You might want to thaw overnight in the fridge. Baking will take an extra 15 minutes since it's starting cold.

Very good! A hit! I added onions to my ground beef as I browned it and added garlic powder and dry mustard along with salt and pepper. I used crushed ritz crackers on top and that was very good! I didn't have carton of chicken broth so made broth with bouillon cube.

Made this tonight for dinner. Super good! Instead of bread crumbs, I used french fried onions. Really good. Everybody liked it. Will definitely make again!

I was expecting this recipe to turn out like some sort of hamburger helper dish, but instead I ended up with something hamburger helper could only dream about being! The only variation I had was to use a combination of garlic and onion salt instead of regular salt when I seasoned my beef, and I also cut my bread slices with a knife as opposed to tearing them so they were little cubes. I also agree with one of the other reviewers that you DEFINITELY need extra bread toasted for on top, that was my favorite part of the dish!

Great recipe! Loved the creamy cheese sauce! It's also a very versatile recipe. It can easily be modified to suit family taste or just for variety by using different kind of cheese or adding spices. Because the recipe was a little high in fat, I used leaner beef (ground sirloin) and lower fat cheese. This is definitely a recipe I will keep and continue to experiment with!

AWESOME!!!! this is the 3rd recipe we've tried and every time it tops the last, way to go betty crocker! The picture does it no justice, looks and smells amazing in person. I used "jenandrick"'s idea by adding some sauteed onions (I hate mushrooms), the sauce is so cremy and coats the beef excellent. I paired it with a 2005 three blind moose , merlot and WOW! is all I can say. what a great pairing...... I think I'm going to toast some extra bread crumbs on the side and dump extra on after its plated (kinda like parm cheese....yummm!)

we loved this, I under cooked the mac just a tad so it wouldn't moosh up in the oven, then added crushed potato chips to the top. Want to try sauteed onion and mushrooms in the beef as well, next time.
