I loved this idea, but I didn't love the white face on the ladybug, so I did mine as small cakes with all red icing and oreos for black faces. Then I made two larger cakes with cupcake heads again in black icing. For those big ones I used black candles as the antenna. I also added a little grass around the base of each of them. My two year old loved these cute bugs and her eyes got really big when brought them out on the tray. to see my version click here...http://fromchapelhilltochickenville.blogspot.com/2008/01/at-least-im-getting-better-at-cake.html

I am 19 years old and I love baking! I was in an antique store and I saw this recipe box that I loved with all kinds of recipes inside I thought it was amazing so I bought it. Inside this box was this recipe! I made it for a kid's cake walk through my church for a carnival event they were having on Halloween night. When I came in with the cake all the kids tried to win it!!! I also couldn't find black shoestring licorice and chocolate wafers :( I got regular black licorice and cut into thin strips and for the eyes I used peppermint patties...it was super cute!!!

I made this cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday. It was so easy! It was my first attempt at making a decorative cake. I ended up using all red licorice because I couldn't find any black and I used oreo cookies for the eyes because i couldn't find chocolate wafer cookies. I also used chocolate chips for the spots. I just put them in upside down. Needless to say, it was a hit! My little girl was so excited and I was excited that it actually turned out.

I made this cake from the Betty Crocker recipe cards for my daughter for her 6th birthday in 1976. She asked me recently to help her recreate it. Imagine my joy when I found the actual recipe on the Betty Crocker website. A classic never goes out of style -- that goes for Betty Crocker's ideas, too!

My aunt recently passed away and I miss her immensely. There are times when little things happen that tell me she is still with me. I started crying when I saw this recipe. My beloved aunt made this cake for me in the mid-70's for my birthday and to see it again just filled my heart! I am so excited to get the stuff and make this for my nieces birthday next weekend! That way we can still feel like Aunt Shari is part of the special day even though she can't be there with us. Thanks Betty for making family memories that last a lifetime and beyond!

I made this cake for my daughter's 8th birthday. All of the girls fell in love with it. My daughter is getting ready to turn 43 this coming Feb. 2008. It shows you a good decorated cake never fades away. Thank you Bettycrocker

We made this cake when our oldest daughter was 3. She's now 11 and has a 6 yr. old sister. We're doing it again. It's very simple and something they will remember.
