This classic French cocktail, traditionally drunk as an apéritif before a meal or snack, is a sweet and sophisticated start to any special occasion.
bottle dry sparkling wine, chilled
teaspoons crème de cassis
In each of 4 flute (champagne) or martini glasses, pour 1 1/2 teaspoons crème de cassis.
Fill each glass with sparkling wine. Serve.
For a sweeter drink, add an additional 1/2 teaspoon of crème de cassis, or to make the drink slightly less sweet, only add 1 teaspoon to each glass.
Garnish each glass with fresh raspberries, orange peel or fresh blackberries to make the drink extra special.
