Finally, the mouth-watering sweet-sour combo loved in Key lime treats comes in cake version. It’s a fresh, delicious escape on a dessert plate.

I first found this in a cake mix cookbook. I have been making this cake for several years and it is ALWAYS a hit! I have even made it for friends to take to their Thanksgiving meals! I always use 3 Tbsp instead of 2 Tbsp of the lime juice in the cake, and use 1 3/4 cups whipping cream instead of 1 1/2 cups. It has a permanent place in my recipe file! Delicious!!

Has anyone tried this with a lemon cake mix instead of the butter flavor?

I made this cake this weekend for my husband - he really loved it! Very light and tasty and the suprise graham cracker layer was worth the effort. Common sense should tell you that the filling and frosting are one and the same - otherwise, how much filling to you think this would make? Will most certainly make again!

I have made this cake many times to rave reviews. It is a real winner. Many of you are confused about frosting the cake. The filling and the frosting are one in the same. In addition, graham crackers layer is an added surprise.

Gee this sounded like a really good cake...however they seem to have left off instructions for making the CREAMY KEY LIME FROSTING...what about that? I'm giving it 1 spoon since I can't even make the cake!

I have not made this cake yet but it sounds interesting. I really do not like lime so I want to try it with lemon or even orange flavors instead. I will let you know how they turn out.
