Jerk seasoning and papaya add zip to this anything-but-ordinary grilled turkey and cheese sandwich.

Ingredients

8
slices crusty bread, 1/2 inch thick
2
tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1/2
pound thinly sliced cooked deli turkey
1
medium papaya, peeled, seeded and sliced
4
slices (1 ounce each) Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeño peppers
1/4
cup jerk seasoning sauce or fruit chutney

Directions

  • 1 Spread 1 side of each bread slice with butter. Place 4 bread slices butter sides down; top with turkey, papaya and cheese. Top with remaining bread slices, butter sides up.
  • 2 Cover and cook sandwiches in 12-inch skillet over medium heat 4 to 5 minutes, turning once, until bread is crisp and cheese is melted. Serve with sauce.

Expert Tips

Can’t find ripe papaya? No worries! Slices of fresh pineapple or peaches taste great, too!
