slices crusty bread, 1/2 inch thick

tablespoons butter or margarine, softened

pound thinly sliced cooked deli turkey

medium papaya, peeled, seeded and sliced

slices (1 ounce each) Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeño peppers

cup jerk seasoning sauce or fruit chutney
  • 1 Spread 1 side of each bread slice with butter. Place 4 bread slices butter sides down; top with turkey, papaya and cheese. Top with remaining bread slices, butter sides up.
  • 2 Cover and cook sandwiches in 12-inch skillet over medium heat 4 to 5 minutes, turning once, until bread is crisp and cheese is melted. Serve with sauce.

Can’t find ripe papaya? No worries! Slices of fresh pineapple or peaches taste great, too!
