Italian Mushroom Skillet

Enjoy Italian-style dinner tonight with ground beef, mushrooms and pasta shells – a wonderful skillet made meal.

medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)

cups sliced mushrooms (5 ounces)

cloves garlic, finely chopped

jar or can (14 to 15 ounces) pizza sauce

cups uncooked medium pasta shells (4 ounces)
1 1/2
cups water

teaspoon sugar

teaspoon Italian seasoning

cup shredded Italian-style four-cheese blend (3 ounces)

  • 1 Cook beef, onion, mushrooms and garlic in 12-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain.
  • 2 Stir in pizza sauce, pasta, water, sugar and Italian seasoning. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
  • 3 Cover and simmer about 20 minutes, stirring frequently, until pasta is tender. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover and simmer about 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Expert Tips

Feel free to use 3/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack or mozzarella cheese in place of the four-cheese combination.

Remember, the sharper the knife and the quicker you chop, the fewer tears you'll experience while chopping onions!
