My husband and I tried this recipe and we found that it didn't seem to have clear instructions nor was it very flavorful. I even tried adding salt to give it some flavor and that didn't help. I won't be making this recipe again. I gave it a rating of 1 since it would let me post without it.

I loved it this is a very good!! The only thing I did extra was add home made fried potato as a side and for dessert triple chocolate cake. This was the comfort food for today. Thanks Betty Crocker!!

EXCELLENT!!! The reviews helped a lot, too. I made mine with chicken broth, chives, a tsp. Of shrimp boil, salt, black pepper and half & half creme. Delicious!!

I've made this twice, it is a great starter-base for potato soup! this time i added 2 strips of chopped cooked bacon, 1/4 onion, garlic powder, 1 chicken boullion cube and omitted the additional 1/4 cup of water. I was going to go crazy and add some cheddar cheese but my husband loves potato soup and put the ky-bosh on my creativity. next time i'll sneak it in .

After reading several reviews touting the blandness of this recipe, I made a few additions and subsitutions. I substituted chicken stock for water and half & half for milk. And I added 1/2 cup chopped onion, 1 T. minced garlic, and 2 T dill weed. This soup is perfect after a long day on the ski slopes.

I agree with most of the others--bland. I added cilantro, parsley. I then cut up bite sized pieces of ham. I still did not get a good flavor. I added a tablespoon of Dijon mustard and finally about a 1/4 cup of Vidalia Onion dressing. I will then salt to taste, as I rarely use salt in my cooking.

After trying this recipe, I have to agree with the other viewers who said that this was bland. I ended up with a delicious soup but only after I added carrots, onions, milk instead of water and extreme amounts of salt, pepper, curry, paprika, garlic and vegetable broth. I gave this rating a 3 because it IS very easy to make and it is a good solid starter soup for anyone and super easy to add herbs/seasonings to make it the flavor you want.

This ended up delicious for me. I added carrots and onions to boil along with the potatoes and used 1/4 cup Milk in the blender instead of water. I also added some Italian sausage and onion and garlic salt, along with black pepper instead of white pepper. I just eyeballed the spices, we like things with flavor! I served the soup in a homemade bread bowl and garnished with cheddar cheese on the top. It was a huge hit at my house.

I make this alot, but it IS bland, so I add 1T. garlic, 1T. onion, fresh ground pepper, some dill and fresh onion. Then right before I serve it I add cheddar and bacon. I have to double the recipe because everyone eats at least two bowls.
