I made this with the heart healthy Bisquick and brought it to work last week. Everyone LOVED it, I even got fussed at because one of the directors at work came back for seconds and I had taken the last piece home! (I was told next time I can take my pan, but leave the leftovers!) It was delicious! The middle texture is similar to an apple bread pudding-- yum! The topping wasn't as crumbly as I expected, but it was still delicious and beautiful. I had several people ask for the recipe so they could make for Thanksgiving!

This dessert sounds good. Has anyone tried making this with Gluten Free Bisquick? Can I substitute it cup for cup? I'm going to give it a try. Will let you know how it turns out.

Variation: I have an apple tree that has had a banner year so I have been making applesauce and pie filling to use with recipes. I adapted this recipe to use my pie filling that already has spices and sugar and tapioca. I increased the Bisquick to 1 and 1/2 cups and added 4 cups of my pie filling instead of 6 cups of apples and folded it into the Bisquick, eggs, oil and milk. I omitted sugar and spices. I increased the baking time to 1 hour and 30 minutes or until a knife came out clean. I like more crisp that the recipe calls for so I increased it for 1 1/2 times the recipe. I just finished my seconds and it is amazing. Even better if you add whipped cream or ice cream. Yum.

I absolutely love this recipe !!!! I used a brown sugar substitute instead of the real thing for the first time and it came out beautifully :) My family can't wait until I make it again !

This is excellent! I was sick of making apple pies and crumb cakes and this recipe seems to combine the best of both worlds. There was a custard-like or bread pudding texture to it, which I liked. I had to use a Bisquick substitute since I didn't have any one hand and it takes just fine. I used walnuts for this recipe and chopped them into very small bits.

This was simple and delicious. The second time I made it I substituted Splenda for the granulated sugar and you would never have known. The entire pan was devoured! Definitely a quick, easy and yet elegant( with whipped cream) dessert.

This was absolutely one of the best desserts I have ever made, and so simple! My hubby is already asking when I am making it again. (Soon, for sure!)

This is an excellent recipe. Easy and quick to make. I read it too fast and mixed spices with the apples then dumped the sugar, milk, and Bisquick mixed it all with the apples them added it to the pan. (Saved myself another bowl to wash.) Added the strussle topping and it came out fine. Great warm or cold. Husband loved it. Will make again.
