I have made this many times and it's a quick & easy favorite. However, I also like it with a little more flavor. The next time I make it, I'll substitute the ground meat for a pound of loose mild italian sausage and add a bit of italian seasonings. Instead of the cheddar cheese, I'll use provolone and/or mozzarella. BTW, our kids (8 & 10) loved it!!!

have made this for many, many years - always prefer to add a little Tony Chachere's instead of salt. After baking, add sliced fresh or sautee'd jalapeno's and onions, and some fresh sliced tomatoes. Top those with cheese and bake until the cheese is bubbly and turning brown.

Alittle blah for me but, the b/f liked it. I also did not add the onions b/c I'm not a fan of onions.. But over all not too bad.

I made this last night for my husband, my sister, and her husband. It was A HIT!! I doctored it up a bit, which made for a PERFECT cheeseburger taste. While browning the meat and onions, I added fresh ground pepper, Adobo, Grillmates hamburger seasoning, and garlic powder. Because there is salt in the Abobo and the Grillmates seasoning, I did not add extra salt. After draining the browned meat and onion mixture, I added a few squirts of ketchup and a squirt of mustard and mixed it all up. I then added a handful of cheddar cheese to the meat prior to putting it in the pie plate. After putting the meat into the pie plate and topping it with cheese, I added about a cup (maybe a little less) of chopping pickles on top, then added the bisquick mixture. The pickles were a perfect addition for that perfect burger taste, and they actually stayed crunchy after being baked! Will definitely make again!

My family loves this recipe....I have added a variation of shredded hashbrowns. I brown them and then I add it on top of the meat before the Busquick Mixture and the cheese. YUMMMMM

This is easy and delicious and even my 10 year old loved it. It's plain enough as is for the kids, but it's a good basic recipe you can season up for adults.

I read the reviews about this dish being tasteless, so I asked myself "how can I make it taste more like a cheeseburger?". So I mixed about a tablespoon of dill relish right into the cooked meat (I used ground turkey) and then drizzled a little ketchup and mustard over the top, added the cheese and bisquick/egg/milk mixture.(I used unsweetened almond milk)It turned out great! My hubby loved it. I think kids would even eat it this way.

I love this recipe, but I too at first thought it was a bit tasteless. I added onion and garlic powder to the meat, also added the cheese to the meat as well as the top. I also add after the meat has been cooked, some peas or corn. I also use mozerella sometimes and a lot of times I use cheddar, mozzerella and monteray jack cheese! DELICIOUS! I also thicken the sauce a bit more.

It was easy but not particularly flavorful. I ended up throwing half of it out. I don't understand why there are so many raving reviews.
