Honey Spiced Winter Squash

Sweet and buttery, this simple sauce will transform baked squash into a stellar side dish.

medium winter squash (acorn, delicata or carnival all work well)
cup butter
teaspoon ground cinnamon
teaspoon salt
teaspoon ginger
cup honey

  • 1 Heat oven to 375°F.
  • 2 Scrub squash to remove any dirt. Cut squash in half lengthwise; remove seeds and fibers. Arrange cut side down in ungreased shallow baking pan. Surround with 1/2 inch hot water.
  • 3 Bake 30 minutes.
  • 4 Mix remaining ingredients. Pour off water from baking pan, and turn squash cut side up. Pour mixture into squash cavities.
  • 5 Bake 15 minutes longer.
