Ingredients

1: box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® yellow cake mix

2/3: cup vegetable oil

4: eggs

1: container (8 oz) sour cream (1 cup)

1: cup packed brown sugar

1/3: cup chopped pecans

2: teaspoons ground cinnamon

1: cup powdered sugar

1: tablespoon milk

1: teaspoon vanilla

Directions

1 Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease and lightly flour 13x9-inch pan, or spray with baking spray with flour.
2 In large bowl, beat cake mix, oil, eggs and sour cream with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, then on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Spread half of the batter in pan.
3 In small bowl, stir together brown sugar, pecans and cinnamon; sprinkle over batter in pan. Carefully spread remaining batter evenly over pecan mixture.
4 Bake 44 to 48 minutes or until deep golden brown. In another small bowl, stir powdered sugar, milk and vanilla until thin enough to spread. Prick surface of warm cake several times with fork. Spread powdered sugar mixture over cake. Cool completely, about 1 hour. Store covered.

I've been making BC's Honey Bun Cake for many years. I took it to a gathering last night and several asked for the recipe. I looked online to send a link vs. typing it out. I noticed that it has apparently changed over the years. The cake looks the same and the changes are minimal, I'm sure it's just as great. If you like a honey bun, you'll like this cake. (For those that think the 1c brown sugar was too much, the orig recipe called for 1/2 c along 1/2 c of reserved dry cake mix).

Nothing to write home about. Liked the texture of the cake, but I think the brown sugar mixture is a bit much, and the icing is way too sweet. If I make it again, I will reduce the brown sugar to 1/2 cup and just drizzle the icing, as opposed to cover the cake with it.

I made this cake for a church potluck. I cut the cake in a total of 24 pieces. I came home with 4 pieces. Everyone, including me, loved the cake. It is delicious. Three of my friends have asked for the recipe. Thank you. Thank you.!!!
