28 oz. can tomato sauce

28 oz. can diced or crushed tomatoes

pinch sugar
parmesan cheese, if desired
  1. Melt butter in a large soup pot on medium-high heat. Add flour and whisk until bubbly; do not let it get too brown. Add salt, oregano, dill weed, basil, garlic powder, pepper, and whisk it together. Pour in milk slowly and continue to whisk.
  2. Add tomato sauce and diced tomatoes and stir. Add a pinch of sugar to reduce acid. Leave on medium-low heat until bubbling and hot through, but do not boil or milk will curdle.
  3. Serve with freshly-grated parmesan for a garnish.
