This is the second year I tried these cookies, never again. They are excellent right out of the oven, but then get hard as a rock. I have to put bread in the container to soften up. Maybe I am doing something wrong????

I make snickerdoodles every year, it's not my favorite cookie but my kids love them. This recipe is pretty good, the only part I'm not sure if I like is how the cinnamon looks once it's baked with the colored sugar. I only put 1/2 tsp of cinnamon in with the 2 Tbl of sugar because that seemed like a lot color wise. Out of the over, it almost looks dirty, the way the cinnamon browned.Doesn't really look that appealing. Other than that, good cookie

Great recipe. I've used it for years. Once in awhile instead of cinnamon I substitute apple pie spice or pumpkin pie spice. Most people like all three versions.

This recipe goes back to my earliest ''cookie'' cookbooks: about 1962-63. I've made these since I was a young girl and they are still one of my favorite cookies. I am going to try the red and green sugars, just for fun this Christmas. These taste great with a cup of tea or coffee!

Cream of Tarter combined with baking soda reacts when the mixture is moistened to ensure that baked goods will rise well.

I've been making these every year for at least five years, I call them Christmasdoodles :) I make them year-round too for other holidays using pastel pink & purple for easter, green for St Pat's and pink or red for Valentine's Day. Who DOESN'T love snickerdoodles!?
