Holiday Felt Place Mats and Napkin Rings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 yard craft felt (72 inches wide)
  • Glue stick
  • 16 pieces (13 inch) fiber trim
  • Holiday stickers
  • 8 pieces (7 inch) fiber trim

    To make place mats, cut four 17x13-inch pieces of felt (remaining felt will be used to make napkin rings). On each place mat, draw 2 parallel lines of glue at each 13-inch side. Place 13-inch pieces of fiber trim on glue; press to secure. Let glue dry. Place holiday stickers on place mats.

    To make napkin rings, cut four 7x2-inch strips from remaining felt. On each felt strip, draw 2 parallel 7-inch lines of glue down center. Place 7-inch pieces of fiber trim on glue; press to secure. Draw 1/2-inch-wide line of glue on one short end of each felt strip. Bring ends of each felt strip together and overlap to make ring; press together to secure ends. Let glue dry.

  • Metallic Rickrack: In addition to the felt and glue stick listed above, you will need four 7-inch pieces, eight 13-inch pieces and eight 17-inch pieces of 5/8-inch-wide metallic rickrack. Cut place mats and napkin rings from felt as directed above. To make place mats, glue rickrack on place mats to create border. To make napkin rings, glue rickrack down center of each felt strip; glue ends together as directed above. Let glue dry. Ribbon and Glitter Stickers: In addition to the felt and glue stick listed above, you will need four 7-inch pieces and eight 17-inch pieces of 3/8-inch-wide decorative ribbon, plus holiday stickers. Cut place mats and napkin rings from felt as directed above. To make place mats, glue ribbon along top and bottom of each place mat. Place holiday stickers at top on center of ribbon. To make napkin rings, glue ribbon down center of each felt strip; glue ends together as directed above. Place holiday sticker on center of ribbon. Let glue dry. Felt Cutouts: In addition to the felt and glue stick listed above, you will need four 7-inch pieces, eight 12-inch pieces and eight 16-inch pieces of 5/8-inch-wide decorative ribbon, plus 20 cutout felt shapes in a complementary color and pinking shears. Using pinking shears, cut place mats and napkin rings from felt as directed above. To make place mats, glue ribbon on each place mat to create border. Glue cutout shape on each corner of place mat. To make napkin rings, glue ribbon down center of each felt strip; glue ends together as directed above. Glue cutout shape on top of ribbon on each napkin ring. Let glue dry.
