Hoisin Barbecue Hot Dogs

Ingredients

cup hoisin sauce

tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
1
tablespoon rice vinegar
1
clove garlic, finely chopped
1
to 2 teaspoons grated gingerroot

hot dogs
6
hot dog buns, split
6
green onions, thinly sliced

  • 1 Heat gas or charcoal grill. In small bowl, mix hoisin sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic and gingerroot; set aside.
  • 2 Place hot dogs on grill over medium heat. Cook uncovered about 10 minutes, turning frequently, until hot.
  • 3 Spread desired amount of barbecue sauce on cut sides of each bun. Place grilled hot dogs in buns; top with onions. Refrigerate any remaining sauce up to 1 week.

For added flavor, brush some of the hoisin barbecue sauce on the hot dogs while they grill.

Toast the hot dog buns on the grill too, if desired. A stove-top grill pan can be used for cooking the hot dogs.
