A family favorite! I even "cheat" a little and add the whipping cream right into the chocolate mixture and beat it until fluffy. It saves time and still tastes just as amazing. People are surprise to find out how simple it is to make.

These were excellent. I brought them to a pot-luck and was asked for the recipe. I gladly gave it out. I got the recipe from a magazine and it asked for 2 sticks of butter. It took me awhile to figure out that that was for the cake mix. As per direction 1 stick was all it called for. I now see that the recipe here has been corected. Thank you.

Sounds wonderful however, I haven't made this yet. Wanted to know if you could use cool whip rather than whipping cream? Want to make for my next ministry meal gathering. Rated it a 4...even though I didn't make it...believing it will be as tasty, and easy as other desserts I made by B.C.

Correction on my word of caution below. I meant to stir every 20 seconds or so........not minutes. Sorry about that.

A word of caution. If you are using a glass measuring cup to melt the choc chips, stir them every 20 minutes or so. I didn't and ended up with smoke all thru my kitchen, smoke alarm went off and I dialed 911. The firemen checked all over and at the end I told one of the firemen about the cookie dough in the oven and the chips in the micro that I had been working on. He opened the micro and that was what had burned, the chips.
