  • 1 Heat waffle iron. (Waffle iron without nonstick coating will need to be brushed with vegetable oil or sprayed with cooking spray.)
  • 2 Make potatoes as directed on box. When done, place in bowl. Place 2 (1/2 cup) mounded portions potatoes from bowl onto hot waffle iron to make 2 waffles. Close lid of waffle iron.
  • 3 Bake about 7 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Carefully remove waffles. Serve immediately, or cover to keep warm. Repeat with remaining potatoes. Serve with toppings as desired.

This is an easy awsome recipe. It is so simple, a child could not mess it up, and so yummy too! @ gklaube- Not sure why you gave it a 2 star when you admitted yourself you used the wrong kind of iron. It is not really fair to rate something poorly, just because you can't follow directions.

Tried this recipe, but our waffle maker is the belgian style, so it doesn't have the same surface area as other styles of waffle makers. The potatoes cooked, but didn't brown well. It didn't stick, but it was hard to get out of the waffle maker. This didn't work well, it was a good experiment, but I won't bother with this one again.
