Marshmallows go from mundane to marvelous in beautiful cupcakes! They're conveniently prepared with cake mix and ready-to-spread frosting.

I made these cupcakes for a one year old's birthday party. I also made a small smash cake with a couple of flowers for decoration. I used brightly colored sugar for a more wow impact. I filled the center of the flower with a a little blog of colored icing. Two things to keep in mind: oil your scissors (which will need a good scrub afterwards) and press the flowers in while the icing is still wet so the marshmallow sticks. If you want to see a photo of my version, click here http://fromchapelhilltochickenville.blogspot.com/2010/02/flower-cake-cupcakes.html

This recipe is very helpful. I made these cupcakes for my daughter's birtday and all the kids loved these cupcakes. Even the adults loved them! Luckily i made some extras just in case they wanted to take some cupcakes home and no cupcakes were thrown away. A definite success! Thank you Betty Crocker :).

The main value in this recipe is the directions for the flowers. I did this once to decorate a cake and instead of candles used mini-marshmallows for the flower centers. I dipped the cut marshmallows right into a bowl of colored sugar. Only the cut part sticks to the sugar, leaving a pretty outline around each petal as you see in the picture. It's quite lovely for something so easy.

Used this marshmallow flower topping to decorate the Strawberry-Cream Cheese Cupcakes also on this website. Used cherry preserves to fill the cupcakes as directed on the recipe and placed a small dab of preserves on top in the middle of the marshmellow flowers. Served them at a women's club meeting and loved them.
