No bread is needed for this tasty ham and cheese sandwich. Bisquick® mix makes it "homemade easy."

The idea is great, but the recipe... not so much. I used this recipe as an idea to build off of. My version is now a new family favorite. I used crscent-roll dough and biscuit dough from the store. Each family member had a different opinion as to whether the crescent-roll kind or the biscuit kind was better, so I won't tell you which you should use.I spread cream cheese on the dough. rolled up two spear of asparagus in each ham-cheese roll. Also using more than one kind of cheese is fun.

I used 1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons water dough was a little sticky but when it was kneeded in a little more Bisquick it turned out just right.

The recipe needs closer to 1/4 cup or more water. It was very dry.

Dough took a cup more water than recipe called for, deli ham was hanging out the edges of a 6.5x4.5 rectangle, dough was still dry enough to have to use water to seal the seams, prep took an hour not 20 minutes. I would not recommend trying this recipe unless you are an experienced cook and willing to tweak all the little problems with this recipe.

As when making calazones or any other pocket type baked sandwich, I make a few small slits in the top of the dough to allow steam to ecape. That way I don''t end up with "leakers", or burst messy product.
