Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 375°F. In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, water and egg until dough forms. On surface sprinkled with Bisquick mix, knead dough about 10 times. Divide dough into fourths.
  • 2 For each sandwich, place one-fourth of dough on surface sprinkled with Bisquick mix; roll in Bisquick mix to coat. Press or roll dough into 6 1/2x4 1/2-inch rectangle, 1/4 inch thick. Spread each rectangle with 1/2 teaspoon mustard. Wrap each cheese stick with 2 slices of ham. Place ham and cheese bundle in center of dough. Roll up dough, enclosing filling. Pinch ends and tuck under. On ungreased cookie sheet, place rolls seam sides down. Brush with milk.
  • 3 Bake 18 to 23 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Try one of the newer flavors of string cheese in place of the mozzarella.

For a special touch, sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon sesame seed on each roll-up before baking.

The idea is great, but the recipe... not so much. I used this recipe as an idea to build off of. My version is now a new family favorite. I used crscent-roll dough and biscuit dough from the store. Each family member had a different opinion as to whether the crescent-roll kind or the biscuit kind was better, so I won't tell you which you should use.I spread cream cheese on the dough. rolled up two spear of asparagus in each ham-cheese roll. Also using more than one kind of cheese is fun.

I used 1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons water dough was a little sticky but when it was kneeded in a little more Bisquick it turned out just right.

The recipe needs closer to 1/4 cup or more water. It was very dry.
