I made one of these and it was a hit with my Granddaugther. You can change it for any occasion. Just change the coloring of the icing. Very easy and quick to make. Thank you for the great idea!

I made this as a trial for next Halloween for gift giving. It was so easy and the instructions were very easy. My granddaughter loves cats so it was a big hit. I used gel instead of the licorice as no one likes it. Thank you for the great ideas.

This cake was so fun! Take the time to follow the directions. I used pnut m&M's for eyes and nose. Used some melted chocolate to make eye slits. Melted chocolate in a Ziploc bag, snipped the end and piped whiskers and paws. Let cool, then put on cake. Worked awesome because noone here likes blk licorice. Thanks BC!

This cake is even easier to make than it sounds! The cutting/assembling takes little time and effort. The only problem I had was finding a plate big enough to serve it on, but that was my fault, not the cat's!

I have been making this cake for years as the recipe is in the Betty Crocker cookbook. My daughter, who is now 25, always asked me to make her the "cat" cake when she was small. I would tint the frosting different colors so the cat was never the same color. One thing I would recommend is to cut the layer up for the ears, head and tail the day before you frost it so it isn''t so crumbly. Otherwise, it so easy to make and decorate and kids love it!

I made this cake for Halloween and took it work and it was a big hit! Everyone loved it and there wasn''t a piece left. I was surprised at how easy the cutting and piecing together was. My finished result looked exactly like the picture.
