Directions

  • 1 In blender, place marinade ingredients. Cover and blend until mixed. Pierce beef with fork several times on both sides. Pour marinade into shallow glass or plastic dish or resealable food-storage plastic bag. Add beef; turn to coat with marinade. Cover dish or seal bag and refrigerate, turning beef occasionally, at least 6 hours but no longer than 24 hours.
  • 2 Heat coals or gas grill for direct heat. Remove beef from marinade; reserve marinade. Cover and grill beef over medium heat 20 to 25 minutes for medium doneness, brushing occasionally with marinade and turning once. Discard any remaining marinade.
  • 3 Cut beef across grain into thin slices. Serve with salsa.

EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Piercing the meat with the tines of a fork helps the marinade penetrate the meat.

No tequila? Just use extra lime juice.

Absolutely loved it on CHICKEN instead of steak. I don't like steak to begin with... Boneless, skinless in the oven-AMAZING!

This is the second time I am using this recipe, my family loves it. It is a great base marinade that you could use for several different varieties of beef steak.

This was the worst steak I ever tasted - tough & bitter. First bad recipe from this website, so that's not a bad track record.
