The fabulous flavor of tacos turns up in mouthwatering burgers. Take them to the table in half an hour.
lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
package (1 oz) Old El Paso™ taco seasoning mix
slices (1 oz each) Monterey Jack cheese
burger buns, split
avocado, pitted, peeled and sliced
cup Old El Paso™ Thick 'n Chunky salsa
jalapeño chile, chopped, if desired
Heat gas or charcoal grill. In medium bowl, mix beef and taco seasoning mix. Shape mixture into 4 patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
Place patties on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 13 to 15 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F. Top each patty with cheese slice. Cook 1 to 2 minutes longer or until cheese begins to melt. Serve in buns with avocado and salsa. Top with chopped chile.
This recipe calls for ground beef, but feel free to use ground turkey instead.
Favorite taco toppings such as sour cream, shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes can be served, too.
