These are AWESOME!!!! My husband I loved them and they were super easy to make! They kind of tasted like those little potatoes f/ Bob Evans - but waaaaay better!! I used spray and butter, but it still stuck to the foil pretty bad.

Made these for Memorial Day BBQ & *OMG* everyone loved 'em! Perfectly cooked at one hour. We doubled the batch & had two pouches side by side on the grill. Even though I sprayed the heck out of the foil before grilling, we still had quite a few potatoes left behind due to sticking but overall-amazingly good & easy!!! :)I used chives instead of green onions & a dollop of sour cream when served.

Like someone else posted, this is the best when you are camping. Add raw ground beef, corn, peppers, favorite seasonings and wrap well....twice even. We set the pack right in the coals and flip after 10min. I'm going to add cheese next time we go.

I par boiled the potatoes and it cut the cooking time by 60%. Russet potatoes work very well too. I have used this recipie in the oven (350) for about 20 minutes (if potatoes are par boiled), the flavor is not as good but it does the job.

I dont have a grill. Does anyone have any idea how I could make this in the oven? More specifically time and temperature? I wish they gave instructions like that with some of the grilled recipes. They all look and sound good and would try in the oven with a little liquid smoke but am not good at guessing times and temps.

This recipe was GREAT!! I made these while we were out camping. I pre-made them in the morning and it saved a lot of time. I did take some of the advice from previous reviews and added some things. I did spray the foil (a must). I used real bacon and under cooked it so it can cook in the packet. This added a lot of flavor. I added green & red peppers, pepper and garlic. I added a few chopped chives to the packet and added the rest with the cheese 5 minutes prior to it being done cooking (following others review). I did put all the ingredients in a bowl and mixed it with some olive oil (just to coat). I then added chunks of butter on the foil and poured the mixture on top. The butter helped with keeping it from burning on the bottom. We did have a crispy bottom, but it was not burnt. Our camping group raved on how great these potatoes were and would like me to make them again. They do taste good as left overs. I will definately be making this one again.

For a better flavor use real bacon, cooked and crumbled. For some variaty and zip add several tablespoons of Mirical Whip, Cheez Whiz, or sour cream, and mix it in afer the potatoes are done and prior to adding the green onions.Good stuff Maynard!!

This recipe is fantastic! We use Hormel bacon bits, since it's real crumbled bacon and I don't have to clean up my stove afterward; or if I have cooked bacon on hand I'll use that instead. The cheese burned on me the first time I made them, so now I add the cheese at the same time as the green onions and toss the potatoes to combine everything. The cheese melts perfectly with the heat from the potatoes and tastes so good that we sometimes have more potatoes then our entree.

I have been making these for a while. If you don't vent the top of the foil you can turn them over every 15 - 20 minutes and avoid the burned bottom. They will puff up like a pillow while they cook and you can turn them over with pot holders. If you gently squeeze a potato in a corner you can check if they are done with out opening them.
