Greek Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean (at least 90%) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup crumbled herb-flavored feta cheese (2 oz)
  • 1/4 cup chopped kalamata olives
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano leaves
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh mint leaves
  • 4 pita (pocket) breads (6 inch), cut in half to form pockets
  • 1/2 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 4 thin slices red onion, cut in half
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Greek Fat Free plain yogurt

    Heat gas or charcoal grill. In large bowl, mix beef, cheese, olives, oregano and mint. Shape mixture into 4 patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

    Place patties on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 10 to 12 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F.

    Cut burgers in half. Fill each pita pocket with burger half, cucumber, onion and tomato slices; drizzle with yogurt.

  • Serve with a Greek pasta salad and watermelon slices. Or if you're really in a hurry, your favorite potato chips will do just fine!
