Very cute cupcakes and so easy! Mine turned out perfect. I used black coffee stirs and white dental floss. All I could find at the store were red gummy fish. To dye the frosting, I purchased Betty Crocker's buttercream frosting, emptied the container into a bowl, added blue dyeing gel and beat it on low speed until the frosting was a good color blue. The children loved them (and so did the dad they were made for)!

I made similar cupcakes years ago. Pretzel sticks make good fishing rods and licorice laces are the best line....looks like old fashioned fly rod. Thank you for all good ideas.

I made these slightly different. I used blue crystal sprinkles on half the cupcake as the water, licorice (cut in half) as the pole, and then string licorice as the line. The pole licorice had a hole in the middle that I put the line licorice into. %0d%0a%0d%0aVery easy to do!

This is just what I needed! It goes well with the fish cake! It allowed me to serve the kids first and left enough for the Adults.
