Gluten Free Denver Omelet

Ham, bell pepper and onion flavor this popular anytime egg treat.

Ingredients

teaspoons butter or margarine

tablespoons chopped fully cooked ham
1
tablespoon finely chopped bell pepper
1
tablespoon finely chopped onion
2
eggs, beaten

  • 1 Heat butter in 8-inch omelet pan or skillet over medium-high heat just until butter begins to brown. As butter melts, tilt pan to coat bottom. Cook ham, bell pepper and onion in butter 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • 2 Quickly pour eggs into pan. While sliding pan back and forth rapidly over heat, quickly stir with fork to spread eggs continuously over bottom of pan as they thicken. Let stand over heat a few seconds to lightly brown bottom of omelet. (Do not overcook—omelet will continue to cook after folding.)
  • 3 Tilt pan and run fork under edge of omelet, then jerk pan sharply to loosen eggs from bottom of pan. Fold portion of omelet nearest you just to center. (Allow for portion of omelet to slide up side of pan.) Turn omelet onto warm plate, flipping folded portion of omelet over so it rolls over the bottom. Tuck sides of omelet under if necessary.

I like the recipe! And the fact that Betty Crocker has taken the time to provided additional information for us "non-experts" with respect to the fact that it is also Gluten free is a plus. Why would anyone take the time to make the comment "I don't like Ham or peppers so I would never fix it" is baffling at best. Doesn't all cooking boil down to personaly taste. My Thanks to the folks at Betty Crocker,

I don't get why this is labeled as "Gluten Free". The Denver Omelet has never had gluten in it. That is like posting a recipe for "steak with caramelized mushrooms" and claiming it is gluten free as well. Or perhaps having a recipe for a glass of water and saying it is fat free. Or perhaps having are recipe for scrambled eggs and saying it is carb free...or rather gluten-free. Cause it is... Also, Betty Crocker (aka Marjorie Husted) never cared about gluten either way. This recipe doesn't deserve to be on this website.
