Good post, Missy Jane!Your pre-cook saga had me laughing to mylesf. Mom was always the lead cook for special occasions, with my three sisters preparing, assisting, cooking various side dishes, etc.etc.Me? I was in charge of pickles and dinner rolls...My husband is the cook in our family - I cross the threshold into the kitchen and suddenly I have no working brain cells....Oh, don't get me wrong - I can make a mean salad, make a sandwich, etc. But, REAL cooking - Not gonna happen! One of our turkey dinners did end up in my hands and I told my husband that if he ever again left me alone with an oven and four burners there would be heck to pay!!Thank you for the memories, Ladies!Patriciamadley (AT) cogeco (DOT) ca

I had my doubts about this cookie because there was no eggnog in the recipe but I was delightfully surprised. They are fantastic! Taste just like eggnog and light and delicate. Love them and will definitely be adding these to my holiday cookie list. @Allegheny2012 - try not baking the cookies quite as long. I experimented with times and the cookies I baked 10 minutes or until the edges were browned were definitely dry but when I baked them for 8 or 9 minutes they were perfect and delicious.

One of my favorite holiday cookies! I love the flavor. They tend to be slightly dry. This time I added 1/4 c. more butter to the dough and that helped. Net time I might try a second egg instead. Definately a cookie to enjoy with milk, slightly dry but bursting with flavor!

to paharts: These DO taste like eggnog. It's the rum and nutmeg that give it the eggnog taste. They are absolutely wonderful!!

The "eggnog" ingredients provide a delicate flavor and is a nice twist for the standard spritz cookie. From the responses I am getting, I will make them a "must have" on my baking list.

The "eggnog" in the title refers to the flavors of the cookie. The nutmeg and rum specifically offer the flavor of eggnog in this recipe.

To Paharts. Its supposed to be a review to help people know if they are worth making not to critique the name of the cookie. . Your post is not helpful to anyone.

i don't understand ... what makes them 'eggnog' cookies? there isn't a drop of eggnog and only 1 egg in it.
