Ingredients

1: box Betty Crocker German Chocolate Cake Mix

3/4: cup Butter

2/3: cup Evaporated Milk

1: package Chocolate Chips

1: pound Caramels

1: cup Chopped Nuts (Optional)

Directions

1 Mix Cake Mix, Butter (softened) and 1/3 Cup Evaporated Milk. Press 1/2 of this into a greased 9 X 13 pan, bake at 350* for 10 minutes. Cool.
2 Unwrap Carmels and Melt with 1/3 Cup Evaporated Milk (in microwave oven or use a double boiler) and cool for 5 minutes then pour over crust and sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts.
3 Put remaining dough on top and bake 350* for 15 minutes more. Cool and cut into squares.

Roll out remaining dough with a small amount of flour and place on top. This helps to make the dough on top even while keeping the carmels, chips and nuts in the center.
