Ingredients

2/3
cup butter or margarine, softened
1
box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® German chocolate cake mix
1
cup semisweet chocolate chips
1
container Betty Crocker® Rich & Creamy coconut pecan frosting
3
tablespoons milk

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Lightly grease or spray bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan.
  • 2 In medium bowl, mix butter and cake mix with fork until crumbly; reserve 1 cup. Press remaining mixture in bottom of pan.
  • 3 Bake 10 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked layer. Drop frosting by tablespoonfuls over chocolate chips. Stir milk into reserved cake mixture. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto frosting layer.
  • 4 Bake 24 to 28 minutes or until cake portion is slightly dry to touch; cool 10 minutes. Carefully loosen edges of bars with knife. Cool completely. Refrigerate until firm. For bars, cut into 8 rows by 6 rows. Store loosely covered.

I have made these for a long time as well. Not long after I took them to work I had people asking for the recipe. The funniest one I got was from a friend and co workers wife. She called me from her cell phone wile in the store, asking me for the ingredients etc. They were her husbands favorite. I work at a new company now but will make this over the weekend to see how they go over. Something tells me they will!

For those whose cakes didn't work - next time check your dates on you cake mixes - MAY HAVE EXPIRED !!!

These we're just aweful..I have had my flops before but this..what a mess..first I just may have to buy a new pan stuck big time all around the edges..I followed the recipe to the letter and they are a big gooie mess..almost thought about tossin em but put em the fridge hope that helps..they dont even taste like german chocolate anymore..the dollops on top didnt cover the center layer..DO NOT BAKE THESE!!! What a waste of cake mix and time...
