Chili sauce adds a slightly sweet touch to this potato-topped meat and veggie pie.

We really enjoyed this recipe. It was great! It actually made twice as much as it said and we made a dish for the neighbors. We would make it again. I did not get enough tomatoes so I used a can on chilli ready tomoatos also. worked great.

Liked the recipe a lot. I would suggest adding another pouch of potatoes as well. For a different twist I added a can of diced tomatoes that had basil and garlic in them. I left off the chili sause/seasoning as I do not care for it. It came out really good as well with a different twist. Everyone loved it here.

I made this delightful meal one night for my family and they loved it. They rarely ask for me to make any other recipe twice but this was the one they ask for all the time. Thank You Very Much Felicia in Lake Charles, La

My family loved this dish!! There were no leftovers for once. I couldn''t find chili sauce so I substituted ketchup. It worked fine. I''ll use a larger baking dish next time. Cover the entire meat/vegetable mixture with potatoes instead of just the sides.

I didn''t like how overpowering the tomato was. I won''t use them at all next time and I think it will be better. I used corn instead of the beans and carrots. The kids didn''t really care for it because of the tomato either. They are used to the traditional or sweet potato version.

Love this recipe. I likewise cover the whole top with potatoes by using both pouches of potatoes. I also make sure I always use a 2 1/2 quart baking dish (instead of the suggested 2qt) otherwise it bubbles over in the oven. Works great with any medley of vegetables and reheats amazingly for left overs.

I make this recipe all the time. It has become a standard in our household that I pull out when I am short on time. It is easy to substitute veggies for other veggies, and it turns out fine if you don''t use the chili sauce (though I prefer it). I cover the entire thing with a layer of mashed potatoes instead of just the sides.

This just doesn''t do it as written. Won''t make again even with changes. There are too many good shepard pie recipes out there to waste time with this one. If you insist on making it I would strongly suggest that you drain at least 1/2 the liquid off the tomatoes and use at least two puches of garlic potatoes to cover the dish. Moving on to another site, not finding any good recipes here.
