All that's needed to enhance a simple almond-flavored cake is an outstanding berry garnish. Beautiful!

why did you have to decrease volume of cake mix? It was used to be 18.25 oz. now only 15.25 oz. Shortern me out 2 cupcakes. why why why

My husband proclaimed this cake to be a winner! I agreed with him and so did our guest and my Mother-in-law. One of the best dessert recipes I have.

I gently scooped out the center of the cake, approx the circumference of the 'dome' I removed, to a depth of 3/4/-1 inch and filled it with the berry mixture. Cupcakes were made with the rest of the batter, served with fresh fruit/whipped cream.

Made this!! It was excellent! just follow the directions it makes one cake. Save the rest of the cake mix for a second cake for another time. It's kind of a dense cake, but it needs to be due to the fruit topping!

I would like to use all the mix and put into a large tube cake pan. Is this possible with your directions? I have not made the cake as yet.

There's no way all the batter from a full recipe would fit in one 8 or 9 inch pan without running over--unless you have a special deep 9 inch pan such as for wedding cakes.

I haven't tried it yet, but if you only use what is required in the recipe, you're not using the entire cake mix, the water is less 1 cup than on the box and you're also short an egg, so it should be possible for the batter to fit in the cake pan. Just an observation.

Still confusing - are the measurements for the water, almonds, vegetable oil, extract and eggs for 1/2 of the cake mix or for the whole thing which would actually make 2 8 or 9 inch cakes?
