Ok-I tried this for my daughter's party, just like I said I would. They are very cute. What takes the most time is cutting the licorice in half. My daughter was able to help a littlewith putting the "petals" on, and she liked that. I used the Twizzlers Rainbow package of licorice. The only color I did not use was green. I was able to make 13 cupcakes with one package, minus the green. So If you want to make more cupcakes, I suggest getting more than one package of licorice. They are very cute. I gave them a 3 rating, only because I don't like all colored licorice. I took it off and ate the cupcake. But I did get lots of compliments on them. And the little girls loved them.

I will try this next week for my daughter's birthday party. Twizzlers now sells a package of rainbow licorice. Includes yellow, pink, green and blue. There might be one or two more colors. Should be easy to find in any grocery store. I'll give my rating after I make them, but I don't think they will be very hard, and my daughter will love them-after all, she picked them. :)

This was an easy way to "fancy-up" simple cupcakes. My advice is to start looking early for the other color licorice. I could only find red (and black) and the red looked like red zinnias, not the daisies I wanted to make.

Ilike the Idea, of the flower top, but I think finding differnt colors of licorice, would be more time consuming, and not a regular item found in a grocery store.

I made this once, and it was mediocre. I'm not fond of the colored licorice. I've had it before. It made the cupcakes look nice, but that was all. I like the old fashioned licorice taste. Maybe if I had children, they might like the 'new' colored licorice.
