I made this cake for my oldest granddaughter's birthday. Even though my granddaughter has severe cerebral palsy, and cannot eat the cake because she is on a feeding tube, I still wanted her to have something very special. The video helped me immensely. The biggest tip is to do the crumb layer of frosting and let it chill. It makes the final layer of frosting a breeze to add on. I used my own recipe for the frosting. My daughter said, Wow where did you get that cake! It made me feel really good to create such a beautiful cake. Betty Crocker I've been using your brand since I was 19 years old. I am now 58 and that's how much I believe in your product. Thank you for making my 12 year old granddaughter's birthday so special.

Success! I made this for my daughter's third birthday, too. It's a known joke that I'm a terrible baker but even I was able to follow the recipe. The video on this website was a HUGE help. My cake ended up a little shorter than needed for the doll, so I tied some tulle around the doll (looked like a skirt), and added some piping along the top edge. Didn't need to do the piping on the bodice as my doll came with a pink top. My daughter was delighted!

I made this for my daughters 3rd birthday. I'm no "piper" so instead of piping icing on the bodice I "painted" icing on her, then stuck "hundreds & thousands" (aka jimmies/Nonpareils) on the icing. My daughter was also into fairies so put in fariy wings at the back. I'm on the fussy side so I spent alot of time ensuring the flowers on the dress were perfect! Well worth the effort put in :-)
