For those of you who didn't follow the recipe exact, is why YOUR recipe didn't turn out. Follow all instructions and it comes out perfect if you know your oven temp well. I have a gas oven and use less time. This recipe is awesome. And yes you can use the broiler for the top as long as you egg-sit the oven.

I haven't tried these, but some of these reviews don't sound too promising. I think I will use frozen hash browns and cook as directed adding some cheese. Then cook the egg separately and top the muffin cup with it, instead of baking the egg in the over. That way I won't have to worry about the egg taking forever to cook or under or over done! And I'm guessing it will look just as pretty:)

Could one do the hash browns and eggs together?

I used thawed hash browns instead of the boxed. We do not like hard cooked eggs and I tried several times to get them soft cooked to no avail. Won't make them again this way. Maybe I'll try scrambled eggs and cheese on top.

These do NOT cook evenly and take forever to make. They were far from a hit in my house.

I beat 6 eggs & poured them on top...baked the eggs for at least 20 minutes--and then added some shredded cheese as I took them out of the oven. Make sure to leave them in the pan to cool for AT LEAST 5 minutes--or they fall apart when you try to remove them! Fun & tasty--although a TON of work for such a little thing. And definitely for DINNER--NOT breakfast! I'm not standing in the kitchen for an hour & a half just to make breakfast! LOL!

I wonder if you could beat the eggs first and then put them on top. I think I might try half the recipe that way.

Looking at the picture, the eggs seem a bit underdone. Do you think putting them under the broiler for a few minutes cook the yolks/tops without ruining the hashbrowns?

To either print or save to recipe box, use the green circles to the left of the recipe. You will need to be logged into your account.
