I had a great time trying this recipe and I will definitely be trying it again! I think I will cut it in half though...unless I am planning on a bigger party or giving them out. Delicious!

You have to really really like the taste of whiskey to tolerate these cakes. I was not expecting it to taste so strongly. If I made them again I'd totally skip the whiskey in the sauce. I prefer just a hint but these were almost pure whiskey taste. Not for my tastes but I am giving them a 5 star because they live up to their name!

I used French vanilla cake mix instead of yellow (so many of the reviewers recommended it, and I heartily agreed after tasting it); and due to our high altitude here in Albq, NM, I added 1/3 c. flour and an extra 1/4 cup Jack Daniels to the batter. Also in Step 6, to the reserved 1 1/2 cups icing, I added not only walnuts but also about 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar, so it would be more like a runny frosting than just more of the liquid glaze. I got three 8x5" loaves and four 5x3" loaves out of the recipe. (Of course you can cut the recipe in half if you aren't giving as gifts.) I made them on Sunday and served on Thursday, allowing plenty of time for the glaze to soak in. I don’t normally like booze mixed in my sweets, but this cake was fabulous, I have to say. And everyone who tried it agreed.

Can Pecans be used? Also, can the cake mix be with pudding already in the mix? Thank you!

I'd like to make this as a big cake. Can anyone tell me what size pans to use and how long to bake? I was thinking 2 9x13 pans, but not sure about the backing time. Thank you!

Very easy to make only problem the next time will not pour so much of the icing on the cake. It is very moist and makes it difficult to cut. Maybe fewer holes in the cake would help. The icing kept running over the sides of the cake. Taste is great will make again.

These were a terrific Christmas gift! I wasn't sure how well it would go over with the non-drinkers on my gift list, but everybody really enjoyed it. Those small muffin pans in a cellophane bag with a nice ribbon made a pleasing presentation. They were remarkable. Definitely making this again.
