Ingredients

cups Gold Medal™ All-Purpose or Unbleached Flour

tablespoons packed brown sugar
1/2
teaspoon salt
1
package regular or quick active dry yeast
1/3
cup milk
1/3
cup water
3
tablespoons butter or margarine
1
egg

  • 1 Stir together 3/4 cup of the flour, the brown sugar, salt and yeast in large bowl. Heat milk, water and butter until warm (105º to 115º) (butter need not be melted). Gradually stir into flour mixture. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Add egg and 1/4 cup of the flour. Beat on high speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in remaining flour until stiff dough forms. Grease top of dough. Cover bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 2 hours but no longer than 3 days.
