I added a hint of peppermint to the cookie dough as well. I also crumbled peppermint candies and combined with the icing. They were fantastic.

I made these cookies with my 10yr old daughter and they were so easy and fun to decorate. My husband loved them so much that I have been asked to make another batch today! A double batch for sure!!

I prepared these cookies many times and each time they were a BIG hit!! The peppermint frosting is very refreshing and addicting. One change I would make- instead of 1/2 tsp of almond extract, use 1/4 or a little less. That way it tastes more buttery. I will DEFINITELY be making these again!

The cookie was easy and delicious. I also had trouble with the sprinkles. I used a plastic bag with a tiny hole poked in one corner. Couldn't really get spiral affect, but still looked good.

I suggest finely crushing peppermint candy canes up and putting a little in some buttercream frosting, frost the cookies, and then putting some on top of the frosting. I did that for our family christmas and they loved it.
